In this painting, the Cave of the Patriarchs – מערת המכפלה comes alive in cool, saturated colors, rendered as if the entire scene exists within a single, expansive splash of paint. This sacred site, the resting place of our Patriarchs and Matriarchs, is the most important religious site for the Jewish people, and I sought to honor its deep spiritual significance.
The sweeping, unified shape of the splash creates movement and energy, while also holding the space together, reflecting both the strength and sanctity of this holy place. Light and shadow play across the forms, connecting centuries of devotion to a living, present moment. For me, this painting is an homage to the eternal bond between the Jewish people and our heritage, history, land, and faith.
