Mount Sinai, an Encounter Between Heaven and EarthEvery artwork comes with a COA (certificate of authenticity).
“My lesson shall drop like rain, my saying shall flow down like the dew – like a downpour on the herb, like a shower on the grass” These ancient words by Moshe Rabenu at the beginning of Ha’azinu were in my mind and heart when I painted that Har Sinai painting and though I didn’t paint actual drops, the feeling I had in me is that of something energetic, vital, that revives and illuminates, descending from heaven to earth.
I created this artwork with a strong, dynamic composition that balances both drama and harmony, drawing a contrast between heaven and earth while also fostering a connection between them. The relationship between the two parts is highlighted by the contrasting movements and the base colors—blue against red. The mountain is covered in vibrant flowers and grass, which I intended to make both beautiful and striking. The summit of the mountain symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth. The letter “Shin,” which begins the prayer “Shema Yisrael” and appears on the Mezuzah and Tefillin, represents the divine and the integration needed in Judaism to create a balance between the celestial and the earthly.
